What's your learning style?
Aw, we like you, too!
"I can definitely say that your class was amazing.
The fun and games, the interaction and your way with kids -- it's just what I had in mind for this class.

I'm hopeful that your method of instruction will not only sustain but also develop [my child's] interest in music."

Meet the Teacher!
My name is Madeleine -- the kids call me Mrs Getz!

I received a solid education in piano:
I had excellent technique, I could read music with ease, and I played with expression that examiners praised year after year.
But something was missing.

Why couldn't I play something without having seen it written out? I couldn't even play Happy Birthday at parties!

Why was music theory something I learned at a table?

Why was it so hard to set down on paper the music I heard in my head?

Sometimes I thought I wasn't a very good musician.

The truth is, music education in the past century has focused so heavily on music literacy that music proficiency has suffered.

As a teacher today, I want my students to know music as a living language.
Musicians need to be able to converse in music as much as we need to be able to read it.
